The Government of Canada has launched the Canadian Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) portal. The CERB will provide those who have lost income because of COVID-19 a benefit of $500 a week for up to 16 weeks; those who receive EI will not be eligible for the CERB. It is anticipated that the application will be available on April 6th.
Given the volume of applications, the government is requesting that those who have been waiting to apply follow the following four-day schedule for applications:
- April 6th for those born in January, February and March
- April 7th for those born in April May and June
- April 8th for those born in July, August and September
- April 9th for those born in October, November of December
